Check out the D100 write times in "Moose's" review.
With a Lexar 512 24x CF card, write time for 6 RAW files is 2.47 minutes.

..has anyone compared it to the D60? Is
this common with the higher resoltions?
I found some specs at this page:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/media/compactf...non_eosd60.html
Saying 1572K/sec - But I don't know what
the average filesize is with the Nikon in
JPEG mode. But my personal conclusion
might be to wait for a few more
generations of digital SLRs before buying
a new camera...

The long write times are from a full buffer. I seldom find myself shooting at even 2 fps topside. You've got to figure you aren't going to shoot faster than your strobe recycle time anyway.
If you are going to be shooting action topside, well then that's another story.
I took some continuous shots of my friend kayaking this weekend, and the multi-shot feature on the S2 really came in handy.
Scorpi_fish, you don't intend to use your camera for topsides shooting? I think that after you get it you will find that it doesn't leave your hands much...![]()

Soon as I get back from my next dive vacation (starts this weekend), I'm going to revamp my inventory. My N90s AF has gotten a case of myopia and won't focus properly (always something right before a trip).
My primary desire for the D100 is based on workflow. I've still got around 300 slides waiting to be scanned.
My current inventory:
N90s in Aquatica housing (6 lenses) - Camera (once fixed) and housing to be sold after this trip
Coolpix 995 in Aquatica housing - Both to be sold after this trip.
3 Nikonos V's - two to be sold along with one SB-104 and one SS-200
That will leave me with 4 cameras:
1) Housed D100. If and when I get the darn camera and housing becomes available.
2) One remaining Nik V for wide angle.
3) F100 for topside wide angle (replaces N90s)
4) Pentax 645N medium format (great camera, but what a pain in the ass) topside only.
The D100 will get the bulk of the workload. Dive trip packing will also get easier I think. I'm taking 3 cameras, 2 housings and 4 strobes next week. This greatly increases the probability that I will always have the wrong camera/lens combination for a given dive.
