  1. Saw a number of these out on the sand - quickly disappeared into their holes when flash went off.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Mark -- It looks to be a nemertean worm. I can't tell for sure (images are too small) but the little white string on the left end might be either the worm's proboscis or a prey item.

  3. Thanks Lesley - think it's the proboscis - they seemed to be out searching for food when I came upon them!

I suggest you put this up on http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Glaucus/ - you can use either their web site or their Facebook page to do so. You probably have to become a member but it is worth it as there are a lot of specialist people who contribute and can help with all sorts of ID's

  5. Thanks Jim - I'll take a look.

  6. Its not a worm its an echinoderm - a 'wom-like holothurian' to quote Bernard Picton! Labidoplax digitata, and its fairly common off Criccieth - it is actually found on all British coasts, but Criccieth is by far the best place to see them that I've found. They reach out from their holes to scavenge detritus within reach and retract quickly if disturbed.

  7. Cheers Paul - never heard of it!
