sealux uw housing for Canon HF G30

  1. I am considering ordering a Sealux underwater housing from Germany, for the Canon HF G30 camcorder. I am reluctant because there is no US dealer. Does anyone know anything about the German Company Sealux and their housings? Do they have a good reputation? This housing has both flip color and flip macro available at the same time, which I really do want. I'd get a Sony PMW200 housing from Gates but I think it would be next to impossible to travel with and a pain on boats and in the surf.

  2. Hi Roger,

Good pick !! Sealux houisng is nice. I have been using Sealux Panasonic TM700 housing for few years. Excellent housing , good control, one touch white balance, flip filter, close up diopter....clear monitor.

Actually, I am thinking of HF G30 housing as well, with wider 130 degree view, fully zoom through.

This is my housing looks like:

    Roger,

I ordered the housing directly with Sealux. Their service is nice.

  3. Hi Roger,

I own the SeaLux for Sony Ex1which has been performing well. Quality of the build is excellent and SeaLux support is acceptable. I did order directly and the product was packeged nicely during shipping.

The housing I have can be operated using the keypad or totally manually which is my preferred method. But this depend on the camera type I believe.Since you are dependent on the keypad, make sure you always cary extra batteries with you at all times.

On the flip color or macro on my housing I can only use one of them at a time. Which is not a problem for me at all hence I do not rely on color filter in my shooting. If your housing behaves the same, you might be able to install a filter on the lens directly and keep the macro glass on the flip arm. Having a monitor installed on the housing is a good advantage. You might need to add simple extra shade in bright condition to enhance the view - this is a do it yourself thing.

I hope this helpful and good luck.
