  1. Canon 15mm & ike domes

    Hello!

i'm about to leave for my first dslr trip (north egypt) with a drebel housed by ike, with a ds 125 strobe :D

i guess that's going to be a nice change from the Oly c5050 i had before.

I have only one lens that will fit my actual port, the 18-55 kit lens....i haven't tried the 12-24 but it looks so big it won't fit.

i'm thinking about buying the 15mm fisheye lens (canon one)

Anyone has tried it with the 5503 dome port ? the w/a 5503.15 port isn't available here, but i'm wondering if the lens will just work fine with the port i have

    thankee

  2. Jtreat has used this camera with the fisheye. Hopefully he can check in here.

    Cheers

  3. My understanding was that Jay used Sigma's Rectalinear 14mm lens, or at least that is what I sold him.

The Sig 15 works well behind the 5503 standard dome on cropped sensor cameras, such as the Rebel.

Ike will need to jump in regarding the status of the Sigma 12-24 in his port, I know there were some concerns earlier.

<EDIT> Fixed possible Sigma/Nikon brand confusion

  4. Hi Alexis

Sorry but Ryan is right, I have the Canon 14mm. I can't offer much on the 15mm though I'd love to try it out.

Based on the fact that the 12-24 is almost exactly the same dimensions as my 14mm, the problem will be the zoom gear. The lens itself will fit but the ring that controls zoom will be too big to fit its mating piece in the housing. Of course Ikelite can give you the definitive answer on this.

  5. I believe Ikelite has developed a special gear/sleeve for use w/ the 12-24DX. Hopefully Ike will jump in here.

    Cheers

    James

  6. My understanding (not being Ike) is that you could use the Nikon 12-24 with a special gear / sleeve, but as for the Sigma version I don't think it will fit.

  7. ... you could use the Nikon 12-24 with a special gear / sleeve, but as for the Sigma version I don't think it will fit.

You think the Sigma won't fit? Try puting that Nikon lens on the Rebel. :D

  8. You mean that won't work? :D

  9. Canon is supposed to be coming here Monday to help us on lens availability and sizes, but we got off to a bad start when I asked about "their" 12-24mm lens. Canon has been disinterested in helping us for thirty years. Nikon usually is very accommodating. Sony is disinterested and incredibly arrogant to everyone from customers to dealers. Hope we will know more next week.

  10. i got myself the 15mm fe :)

i tried it home but the aquarium is a bit small for this, and i don't get really shap pictures, still it looks like it doesn't have problems focusing

i didn't found vigneting probs, even with the shade, the 1.6 crop really removes a lot from the FE field of view

anyway i'm leaving in a few hours and don't have time to go and test the 5503.15 dome
