1 set of strobes with 2 cameras?

  1. 1 set of strobes with 2 cameras?

It may sound silly to some of you but I'd like to use my D60 in sea&sea housing with two YS90 strobes and during the same dive sea&sea MMIII with the same set of strobes. I mean the strobes sholud fire anytime I use one of those two cameras. Is there any cord or any other way to arrange it or is it simple immpossible?

    Thx for any advise.

  2. Hmm.. How does this sound?

Not sure if you need YS90DX strobes or if the regular 90's will work. I KNOW it will work w/ the DX as I've used it, but haven't use the 90.

Connect the strobes to your D60 with sync cords. Set them to On, not Slave. Shoot the D60.

When you want to shoot the MMIII, switch the strobes to "Slave" I'd recommend using a fiber optic cable kit from the MMIII to each of the Slave strobes. You might be able to get away without the fiber optic kit on dark diving days.

    Think that will work?

  3. This will not work...the new MMIII has no on board flash...not to mention the fact that trying to mount a MMIII on the already large D60 housing.....

    My 2 cents

  4. Doh. You're going to need some kind of small flash to use with the MMIII then.

  5. thx a lot

personally I was thinking about kind of a cord that is connected to the one I have (connected to my 2 strobes) and then spliting into two going to both camers. but I cant find any :(

like a mirror cord. two strobes with one camera on one cord why not 1 (or 2) strobes with 2 cameras :)

I mean the main problem is how to connect the set to both cameras during one dive coz I guess I cant just disconnect the cord uw and switch it between two cameras

  6. You can connect one strobe to each camera with sync cords and operate the one not attached to the camera you are shooting with on slave.

  7. Dang Herb - you nailed it. Duh on my part.

  11. Hi Tony,

Seaspace will be really exciting for me this year as Eric and I are giving the digital workshop. I hope you can make it!

I doubt I will have an S3 by then - probably August or Sept for that one...
