If yes, in which cases do you choose to do that?
Yes. Typically that would be a close up subject that is not small enough to require a macro and not large enough to require a WA lens and still be able to move in fairly close. For example, an anemone or star fish portrait.
Additionally, a subject that you can't get close to without it swimming off so if you used a WA lens the subject would be too small. Think reef fish.

Yup. Although the wetlenses are on most of the time due to my subjects being small. If im shooting fish portraits, I check if I can pull it off with the diopters. But if the composition doesnt work, I remove the diopters (usually subjects that are more than a couple of inches long)
What about big pelagic at low depth?
Big pelagic at low depth best opportunity to get close shooting around 18mm equivalent
