  1. Hello,

this goby was shot in Lembeh (a few years ago):

I guess the length about 3-4 cm.

Considering a Bryaninops sp. - B. loki or B. amplus are possible but I'm not shure at all.

Can some expert please have a look and give an advice?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Loki and amplus are the same size, live in overlapping regions on the same whip corals and have similare but variable coloration and patterns. Based on books and fishbase I wouldn't be able to pick one or the other but on fishbase there is one image very similar to yours and from Lembeh that is identified as B. amplus. However, it is a user-uploaded image so the ID is not necessarily correct.

  3. Hi Bart,

I already saw this photo on fishbase (and on starfish.ch) and it actually made me considering B. amplus.

It is a user-upload but it is from Zubi (http://www.starfish.ch/) and she is quite reliable in fish identification.

However, nobody's perfect and so she is - and I'm still not shure if it is B. amplus or B. loki.

    Cheers
