Inon 220 cord

  1. Inon 220 cord

Does this strobe use the cord that would be the same cord for a Sea&Sea MMII to Nikons stye strobe with 5 pins? Does the strobe take the same fitting as a Sea&Sea camera? What is the cord called ttl-n 5 pin?

  2. 5 pin Sea & Sea "Sync Cord N".

I think the product number is 17100.

For dual Z-220 strobe, two single cords recommend, not the dual cord.

  3. Mark,

    Why two single cords?

Also any point to bying the z220 against z220s for a S&S housing.

    Cheers

  4. Single cord recommendation comes from film camera days, where some users experienced inconsistent function with the dual cord. Inon never tested the dual cord so the recommendation is based on user observations only.

With all the types of digital systems available today, and without testing each combination, all we can fall back on is the two single cord recommendation. But if you have a dual cord too, it is worth trying. We would be interested to hear your results.

Z-220 / Z-220S compatibility depends more on what camera you are using than on what housing, though housing type can make a difference based on how the connectors are wired. Some D100 and S2 users have been able to use the Z-220 Focus Light and Target Laser at half shutter press, though the automatic shut off time varies from the 8 seconds when used with a Nikon film camera, for which those functions were developed. For D100 and S2, the housing needs all 5 wires of the connector to be wired live.

We have not heard of the Focus Light and Target Laser working with any other DSLR models, and so the Z-220S would be a better choice for those.

  5. Thanks,

The reason I didn't mention the camera is I am hoping to use them with a S&S D70 and my existing F/NX80.
