I'll be in Bohol soon on a family holiday and have a couple of days free to dive. I'm looking for a good operator that is accustomed to photographers. Recommended sites welcome too. I'm an advanced diver most interested in walls and pelagics on this trip as I get my fill of macro in Anilao on a regular basis. TIA

Bohol: recommend a photo friendly operator

Pelagics in the Philippines? Good luck - probably best chance to see them is in a restaurant...

Too true - that made me laugh! Maybe I should not have said pelagics, but rather, anything free swimming and bigger than a nudibranch . . .
I do know that there are dives in Bohol where schools of jacks and sometimes barracudas can be found. People also claim "probable" sites for sharks, rays, etc, but I know from experience that the probability is nowhere near as high as they claim.

There are a lot of wonderful sites around Bohol. I have not been there in several years, but I remember that my favorite sites were around Balicasag Island (about a 40 minutes boat ride from Alona Beach). My favorite site in that area was Black Forest. Not much big stuff, but incredibly pretty reef. I also liked the reef-y stuff around Alona Beach.

Thanks for the site recommendations. Alona will be a given since we'll be staying there. One or two of the "outer" islands like Balicasag are also high on my wish list. The trouble I am having right now is that operators seems to come and go and I'm not finding much info on who has a good track record.

I second Edpdiver . Balicasag was my favourite .I was there 3 years ago and used Seaquest dive center based at Oasis hotel which I found is ok and very convenient . I also dove other areas at Visayas : Pescador , Apo and Cabilao , the most beautiful scenics was around Balicasag .
Good luck

I am going to be diving with Sea Explorers in Alona Beach later this year, and I have heard good things about them (although I have not dived with them previously). Just a suggestion, although others may be more knowledgeable.
