My Fuji S2 says "Card not initialized". I've deleted all images off of it, refomratted it, tried to find a way to initialize it with the finepix viewer and the options on the camera but haven't had any luck so far. Any advice?

Hi James,
How did you delete the images off the card and reformat it? In the camera, or in the computer?
Fuji S2 is FAT 16 and it's possible that if you format it in a WinXP or Win2000 computer, it might have formatted it as FAT32
Do you have another digicam around at the station that you can try formatting it in? It might work w/ the S2 again if you do that...
Cheers

I usually select all the images after I've downloaded them from my computer and deleted them. This leaves the Fuji folders in tact. Apparently I did something different but what ever it was, I don't know. I reset the camera and everything else I could think of and eventually reformatted the card. I checked how I reformatted and it was with XP as FAT32. I've reformatted again as FAT 16 and am back in business. Thanks so much!!! You are a wise man James.
Also, while we are on this thread, you once showed me where the image data was stored for each picture - the shutter speed, f-stop and other settings. I remember this being in a text file but I haven’t seen it in a long time.

PS The Bonaire team will be on the Discovery Channel on in the Cephalopod Special "Tentacles" which will first air on May 11th. Should I say something about this in the general section of wetpix?
Hell yeah! Post in the "Galley" when it's getting close.
Glad to hear you got your card working again. FWIW, I always format my card in the camera.
You can find the EXIF info which tells you the shutter, fstop, etc by using one of many programs. The Fuji Finepix Viewer displays this info down at the bottom of the screen for each shot.
