White Balance - E20P

  1. White Balance - E20P

Has anyone had any experience setting the white balance using the quick reference button under water. I have a Light & Motion housing but anything deeper than 3 meters and the white balance will not set - No Good is all I get, yet on land in any lighting condititons the WB works perfectly.

If anyone has had similar problems or can suggest how to get this to work I would love to hear from you.

  2. Hi!

I've got a bruder housing where the WB button isn't accessible. I'm doing either manual WB before or shoot RAW so I can correct later on.

For macro, I'm setting the WB according to my video lights (3400°K). For WA shots I'm using the highest colour temperature setting. This worked quite well at moderate depths. There's enough colour left do do a decent correction in PhotoShop later on. All my recent images from Cyprus were taken with these settings.

A big disadvantage of the E-20 is that RAW images have a 1/4 size preview image only. This keeps me from using RAW in "standard" situations, especially if I want to review the images after the dive and have no access to a PC.

    Helge ;-)=)

  3. I’m not familiar with your camera but I had a similar problem white balancing.

Try increasing the ISO before you white balance it might be a low light problem, it worked for me.

  4. Many thanks for your tips - will try on my next trip down under!

  5. I would think you could simulate a low light situation above water at night in your home. Try white balancing and if you can’t, then try increasing the ISO. I’d like hearing back if it works.

    Good luck,

    Marc
