New Nauticam stuff for Micro Four Thirds

  1. I just noticed Nauticam has updated its port chart for mirrorless housings to include some interesting new items, including:

N85 to N120 47mm Port Adaptor with Knob for M4/3 System

    180mm Optical Glass Fisheye Port (for 7-14, 9-18, 12-35 & 12-40 lenses)

A series of extension rings with locks

They now include the Panasonic 12-32 lens in their chart.

(Actually, it may be that the port and extension rings aren't new, but are only new for the mirrorless housings due to the adapter?...I am not sure.)

  2. You would be correct in regard to the extensions not being "new". What you have is an adaptor that allows you to use the ports designed for the DSLR systems with the 120mm port mount. So you would be using an existing gear for the Panasonic 7-14 and 12-40 with the zoom knob on the housing or the new gear for those lenses which operates off of the knob on the adaptor. The 20mm port extension used with the 180mm glass port for the listed lenses would also be different than the current extension as well, it would now be 120mm to fit between the 120mm end of the adaptor and the 120mm opening on the port. The 12-40mm would be mounted from the front of the housing after the adaptor is in place and then the port would be mounted over the lens. This is because the 12-40 is to fat to fit into the housing mounted to the camera. When the new Olympus 7-14 F/2.8 zoom comes next year (or 2016) it will probably need to be mounted the same way.

The new ZEN Underwater DP 170 n85II works much the same way except without the adapter and 20mm extension which is built-in. It mounts over the 12-40mm F/2.8 zoom in the same way.

Image is the ZEN DP 170 port mounted on the Nauticam NA-EM1 housing.

  3. Thanks for the clarification, Phil. I guess it is only new in the sense that it is now listed within the port chart for the mirrorless housings and I think the adapter is new. I have the DP 170 n85II, so have no need for this myself.
