Planning to go down to South Africa to see the sardine run. So far the video footage has been amazing but the still photos have been quite average. Especially with the questionable visibility of the water is the Sardine Run what is it made out to be?
Views?
Kind regards
well go look at seapics.com
Doug Perrine shot some amazing stuff last year when we were there. He had the baitball of the century. I personally had a baitball all to myself in 70ft viz. I'm a video guy though.
The viz varies and the stills guys have the extra hazard of being bumped by 30-40 sharks every time the strobe goes off.
My suggestions are bring at least a 15mm (if you shoot digital, a 12mm lens), get the fastest recycling strobe to catch the action and be prepared for a lot of scales etc for backscatter. I'd shoot digital since the action goes from 5mins to 4 hrs. Having 200+ pics to shoot is always good inthose situations.
