I know nudibranchs are not everyone's cup of tea. But they really are beautiful animals especially when viewed up close. I tried to isolate them with lighting as much as possible to focus on the animal and the amazing colors and textures they have. I hope you enjoy it.
As always, comments and constructive criticism is always welcome. Always trying to improve.
Thanks again,
Dustin
That's awesome Dustin! You got some beautiful and amazingly stable footage. Thanks for sharing.
Is the creature at 00.34 a sea hare? I recently photographed the same thing in Milne Bay but haven't ID'ed it yet

Nudibranch tea? How do you make that? Seep dried nudibranchs in boiling water?
Nice video.
What's your lighting setup look like?

Peter

I have 4 lights to choose from depending on the situation. Sola 4000's, a 2100 and a 2000. Also just got an itorch, but haven't used it much yet.

I believe it is the nudibranch bornella Anguilla.
Great video ! I like the clean backgrounds.
It is beautiful to see them 'graze'.
Do you have an additional wet lens, or only 100mm macro ?
Wow, very impressive. Great stuff!

Thank you. I do use a subsee +10 on some shots.
Wow, very impressive. Great stuff!
Thanks for watching it!
I switched to a pair of the iTorch 7 lights recently. So far I'm very pleased with them.
Are you using a snoot on the light?
I made a snoot from sheet rubber curled into a cone that slipped onto the end of the iTorch. But then I lost it at Lembeh. Must make another one before the next trip there in December.

Peter
Dustin,
I am most astonished by the nano-shrimp that appear on the backs of some of the nudis, e.g. at 30 seconds in and many other places. In true 4K those might be identifiable!
Great stuff,
Tom

Thanks Tom. Yes that would be interesting. I just wish Canon would come out with an affordable 4k dslr...

Peter,
I am not using a snoot on this. I only used one during my komodo trip and it was not worth it! Too difficult to maneuver and deal with underwater. if the subject moved...forget about it.
Dustin
Really fantastic work Dustin! I can truthfully say I have not seen nudis like this before, and they are my favorite macro subject. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Thank you so much. That was my goal for the film.

I've seen them in Komodo, but I've never seen one in PNG.

Hi Allison,
We were staying at tawali. It was at a dive site called lawadi. Saw a couple there actually. Fantastic muck site. I too have seen them in Komodo, but also anilao, and Lembeh.
