Why is every Nikon product priced the same across the board? What ever happened to the competitive marketplace in Northeast?
Obvioulsy Nikon Corp has them buffaloed....
If you're a Nikon dealer and want some extra PLUS business, please let me know. I'll bew very discrete. I really hate paying MSRP. Guess I could buy Sony or Canon, but the Nikon SB-N10 is what I want today.
Thanks to all and especially WetPixel for these great forums.!
I think you will find that there are many cameras/companies that are not very often offered for less than fixed price nowadays. Try Hong Kong.

Fixed price....aka....illegal price fixing. Makes me crazy and very pissed off. What ever happened to competition.
Hi partner,
There are deals to be made. I'm not sure about the date for Nikon but I know Canon as of April 2014 is enforcing the strict Minimum Advertised Price on all their lenses and camera equipment. Authorized Canon (and Nikon) dealers cannot under any circumstances advertise a lower price. It doesn't mean that they can't sell for less. They can still have specials they just can't advertise them. I recently picked up a new body for significantly under their advertised price. Your strobe is a low volume item and I'd guess hard to find a deal on, but it doesn't hurt to ask and if bundled with that new lens you've been wanting might save more than you think. It's worth a few calls.
Good luck,
Steve
Camera and lenses are extremely low margin items, frequently sold for close to cost. By the time they take a cc and give you free shipping, its pretty much break-even. Where yu can get deals is on accessories, particularly if they are third-party.
These are strange times, after Nikon instituted the flat price policy to all retailers across the U.S. their camera bodies and lenses are now sometimes significantly cheaper here in Thailand, where there's a VAT (albeit some is refundable at the airport) but authorized dealers are still allowed some leeway in their pricing. I saved a few hundred bucks on a Df the other month.
The last time Nikon was possibly cheaper here was around 2000-2002 when the Thai baht was really, really weak.
