  1. D70 Photos from Florida Keys

I took my D70 setup to Key Largo two weeks ago for my first DSLR experience. The weather wasn't cooperating unfortunately, and high winds and 7-8 ft seas prevented the boats from going out, and on some dives prevented me from bringing the camera. The surge was heavy and I found it difficult to focus on practically anything in macro.

Most of my photo dives were at Jules Verne, a small training area with a calm and silt filled lagoon. We dubbed it "the Black Lagoon" because the vis was terrible.

The good news was that I got my Advanced Open Water cert. The bad news is that I didn't get a lot of good photos. Clearly I have much to learn about this new system and I'm hoping for better conditions to learn in on my next trip.

Please provide constructive criticism. I have a lot to learn about underwater photography in general as well as this system. The D70 is clearly an excellent learning tool towards more serious photography and I'm happy not to have mastered it yet.

Camera setup is: Nikon D70 with 12-24mm, or 60mm lens, Ikelite housing, dual DS125 strobes. I did not use the diopter on the 12-24mm lens. I will try it with the diopter on my next trip.

Enough excuses, here are the photos:

This photo was taken at Jules Undersea Lodge in the 5 ft vis soup.

My best fish ID attempt is Bluestriped Grunt?

    Thanks

  2. I took this sunburst under the dock at Jules Verne. Here you can see why we call it the "Black Lagoon"

  3. I caught this banded butterflyfish near the end of my one ocean dive and my first attempt with the camera. By the end of the dive I was getting much better at keeping the system stable in the surge. Practice Practice Practice.

Could do better at reducing backscatter. Strobe position.

  4. Another fish Id photo taken at Molasses reef with the 60mm. I'm very impressed with the sharpness in this 100% crop

  5. Nice job...especially considering the water conditions

What's the EXIF on the sunburst/pier shot? very nice :D

  6. f22 1/60 16mm No flash Center weighted average

    lens was 12-24mm

What is the best way to get the Xeif info into something I can copy and paste for the D70? In Xp I usually view in file properties but I can't copy/paste there. I just got photoshop CS and Nikon capture but I can't find how to do this there either. Help?

    Thanks
