Hey Guys, I have a Canon HF20 video camera in a gates housing. Im looking to upgrade to a better system I have been thinking about the panisonic GH4 or the Sony AX100. I have seen some youtube video clips with the AX100 it seems it has a lot of green pixels. That was the main reason I got rid of my Sony 520 too much green. If anyone has any other recomendations i would like to hear your thoughts.
Here is a youtube link to some footage shot with my Canon HF20, I would like to improve the quality and its hard to go through the menu to adjust manual white balance.
Thanks
Larry Babcock
Just wait a bit for more options. Reportadly several affordable 4K cameras will be released before the CES (Jan 6-9) and CP+ (Feb 12-15) shows.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed on an affordable APS-C 2K 60p or better yet a 4K 60p option.
Nothing wrong with that video!! Nice!! Shows you, its not the camera, but the guy behind it eh
I doubt spending another 5-10k would do you 'that' many favours to be honest...
Apart from the WB issue (never used a HF20) and '4K' what do you feel you are missing?
...are you itching for something new and shiny shiny?
Thanks for the reply. I wanted a little better quality maybe 4K. Something that has a good WB and easy to access the WB settings. Also maybe something shiny and new (:
Thanks guys
Hi Larry, I agree that's some nice video. We seem to have followed similar paths. I also gave up on Sony because I could not correct the excessive green color in the footage from my previous camera. Now, I shoot with a Canon HF G30 in a Light and Motion housing. The L&M housing has a "one button" white balance on the right grip. While I am sure that the Gates housing is wonderful, and extremely durable, this is a nice feature of the L&M housing. i usually still need to do some minor correction, but nothing like before. 4K would be nice though.
I was looking at the G30. I like the specs. I had 3 L&M housings for previous cameras. Very convenient controls. How does the hf g30 perform in low light. I was shooting hammerheads around 150ft early morning the video was very grainy. Maybe im asking too much from a camera
