Strobes for Fish-Eye
Hey folks,
Will dual DS-50's have adequate coverage for use with a 15mm fisheye lens? Strobes will be used on a 1.6 FOV crop DSLR.
Thanks,

Marginal at best. I use a pair of Ikelite SS200's when I shoot a lens that wide.
Cheers

Ditto what James said. Even with the very wide SS200s (which I use too), it can be difficult to avoid uneven illumination coverage if strobe placement isn't spot on.
I've used the 10.5 fish-eye semi-successfully with a pair of YS-90 DXs (both equipped with diffusers), but I think DS-50s would be difficult wiht a fish-eye.

How about a pair of DS-125s? Would that do:?:
Hard to say whether -50s will do really. They will for something like the 17-40L, but might be a stretch for the 15mm FE. One point though, there's probably a big difference between the 15mm FE for the 10D and the 10.5mm FE for the Nikon mount. You'd definitely need to use the diffusers, which is going to cost you some light.
Hi,
there will be a big difference between the 10.5mm Nikon and the 15mm on a 10D (more than 70 degrees).
I have calculated the FOV of the 15mm fish on a 10D for choosing the right Dome for the lens.
The 15mm gives you exactly 108.1 degrees diagonal FOV.
That's even less compared to the 14mm lens on a full frame camera.
Makes lighting a bit more easy.

DS-50 manual says it covers 80 degrees with diffuser (and I think 70 degrees or so without).
So why would it struggle to cover a 108.1 degree FOV with two strobes?
