    Congrats Linda, great shots!

PS, now that we know what you look like, we can look for you at scuba shows...:-)

  2. Thanks, James.

And I was just looking at the pictures of all of you guys from the Fiji shootout .... turnabout is fair play!

    Linda

  3. Yea, nowhere to hide now 8)

Congratulations Linda, your Harlequin shrimp is the sharpest I've seen of that particular critter. I finally can see the weird shape the have. Great shots.

    Rand

  4. Thanks, Rand. I really wanted a shot of that guy, and he is tough because of the "weird shape". That's why I like that shot, as you said you can pretty much tell what he really looks like! I would have liked a pair, but he was alone, and in the best position for a clear shot.

  5. Congrats Linda. Nice shots.

How was the diving at Myanmar? Our boat operator in Thailand discouraged us from going to Myanmar. He thinks that the place has been over fished and there had also been a lot of dynamite fishing.

  6. Congrats from another Canadian. Well deserved.

  7. Herb, the diving at Myanmar was mixed. The boat used to do a shark dive there, but apparently there are no more sharks, so that is no longer an option. The vis at most of the sites was pretty bad - due to lots of "plankton" in the water. So you would think that would attract the filter feeders, but we only saw one manta, and no whale sharks. My macro shots from there had a lot of tiny things that looked like coiled springs all through them. But we didn't see any evidence of dynamiting, probably due to the sites the boat chose.

One advantage was the lack of other boats. At most of the dive sites in Thailand there were a lot of other boats around, both day boats and liveaboards. Especially Richelieu Rock. But in Myanmar we didn't see any other dive boats, just a few local fishing boats.

One of the questions on the boat's survey was whether we considered it worth the $200 Myanmar park fees (per person) to dive there, and it is questionable. Based on our experience I would say "probably not"..... though that was the best area for a couple of the macro subjects.

And "hi" to fellow Canadian, Todd. I sure wish I was brave enough to dive around Vancouver Island, but it is just a little too cold!
