Roatan Coco View VS Utilla Laguna Beach Resort

  1. This is my question (Considering I rather go to the far side of the World) i am an advanced UW photographer

( http://tbarros.zenfolio.com)but sometimes money is limited so Caribbean on a discount much better than Key Largo!

Is Utilla much better than Roatan South Central Coast (Not West End) out of Coco View worth the trouble and extra money?

    Thanks a lot guys

    Tony

  2. I've never been to Utila, so I can only comment on Coco View. I'll start by saying that I have been back to Coco View seven times already and plan on more trips, so I obviously like it a lot. The diving is unlimited, I generally get in 26 dives in six and half days of diving. The reef and fish life looked better this year than the last couple of years. The staff are extremely friendly, and very competent. The food is good, and unlimited. The place isn't fancy, and there aren't any discos or shopping malls nearby, but if you're there to dive, you won't be disappointed.

That said, I would like to travel to Utila someday, since I've never been there.

  3. Thanks a lot Sting Ray!

What can you say about the macro life on the house reef?

    Thanks a lot

    Tony

  4. I have been to Coco View 15 times, love the place. Macro life is good, look on the Algae fans I will call them, around the wreck in the Front Yard. Bring you SubSee because the little crabs and nudis are very small. On the Black Coral around the bottom of the wreck are Black Coral shrimp also very small. Ask for the Red boat with Kirk and Dave. Kirk finds the most uncommon small things that you probably won't find on your own. Arrow Blenies on most of the wall, Rough headed and secretary bennies here and there too. Coralmorphs probably not how it's spelled in the front yard make for some interesting abstracts. About Coco View, no matter how rough the water you can always dive out front, can't say that for the other places.

I have been to Utila too, like that place too. We went to Lagoona Beach Resort, very good. More diving offered at Coco View.

  5. Another good place on Roatan to check out is the Reef House Resort. A couple miles farther on than Coco View, in Oak Ridge. Unspoiled uncrowded dive sites. Great divemaster David - can find anything. Lots and lots of dive sites. 3 boat dives a day, plus shore diving if you want.

Going back for the 4th time this year. (September).
