Sipadan

G'day all,

My wife and I are planning a trip to sipidan island in october this year (not planned but good to get in before the islands close) but I am a little concerned about some of the negative aspects that have been posted here and on other sites :? . Before we part with hard earned cash (travelling from australia) can I have the thoughts of anyone that has been there, in particular in the last year or so?

Just a note, the only island that will close is Sipadan itself. I suspect that Mabul will be built up to compensate. Day diving to Sipadan won't be stopped, AFAIK.

We went to Mabul in April and mostly loved it. I didn't like the strict diving rules and schedule at the Sipadan Water Village. Other than that one negative, I liked it and would go back.
