  1. St. Vincent-Critter Capital of the Carribean?

I had opportunity to listen to a fella named Tackett this weekend at Sea Space. He mentioned St. Vincent as a great macro dive destination in the Carribean. Do any of you have experiences with this destination? If so, who did you dive with and where did you stay? Would you go again? Are there any resorts or facilities that offer shore diving?

Thanks to all for sharing. I'd love to go Indo Pacific for the next trip, but the skill level is not there yet to justify the massive trip. Sherri and I need more time in ground school before committing to the big flight!

  2. I've never been, but this is a website Deb Fugitt has put together about diving there. Deb, along with being a terrific uw photog, has also done articles and I believe talks about diving on St. Vincent. I'm not sure she's a member here, so I'll post the url:

  3. St. Vincent is an excellent location for macro critters - LOTS of frog fish in a variety of colors and sizes. Deb's web site will show a good example of what subjects can be found there.

I went a couple of years ago on one of Deb's trips and we saw an amazing number of macro subjects for a Caribbean location. However, since then the dive operation she used has changed hands. She had been going for several years, and the dive guides were excellent at finding the subjects, and dealing with photographers and cameras in general. Last I heard, she was unable to find a comparable operation in the few months allowed, so is not leading any trips there this year.

So I cannot recommend a dive operation there, but with the right guides, there are great subjects and macro photo opportunities.
