Clean a domeport inside?

7 posts
  1. Hi,

it seems that my hands are to big to clarn my Zen 170mm port for my Nauticam housing (Pana GH3) inside....how do you do that? What kind of cleaning fluid do you use?

    Regards, Sascha

  2. You should never have to clean the inside of a dome port. Did you get dust into it?

  3. Mainly dust....but with trying to put this out and because the diameter is too small I have now also rest of fingerprint/grease inside...

  4. dust can be blown out with tank air,

if i have to use a towel, i use a microfiber cloth similar to a lens cleaning cloth rolled and stuffed inside turning it around.

For greasy stuff i use window cleaner, but you have to experiment with several types on a window or other glass surface
as i experienced that some types leave some kind of film. The best liquid for cleaning glass domes would be lens cleaning fluid.
I guess you have a ZEN glass dome so the above will work, don't try this with a acrylic dome as you will scratch it.

  5. Selvyt cloths are handy for glass domes (try ebay).

  6. If it's just one greasy spot you might also consider trying a q-tip with a little bit of window cleaner on it.

  7. Thanks a lot for these helpful advices!

    Regards Sascha
