  1. More D70/D100 housing stuff

Not to be too repetitive, but I am going to upgrade from a small Canon S400 in a Canon housing with a S&S YS25 strobe to the D70 and am struggling with all of the pros and cons of the various housing options.

My dive shop called Light and Motion. They do not yet have a housing for the D70 but indicated that they are planning to have one by the end of the year. The dive shop seems to think that the L&M housing is superior to most others out there.

Question: Is it worth it to wait until the end of the year for the L&M housing? Have many of you used the L&M housing on the D100?

It seems that the jump from the point and shoot digicam to DSLR is pretty major and complex. I have always been an avid amateur photographer and have only been diving for about 1 year. I'm a bit frustrated with the quality of photos I get from the S400 but it was a great way to get introduced to UW photography.

This forum is a fantastic resource. Thanks.

  2. 2 cents worth on waiting...

If you have seen the Light and Motion, their products are nice, love it, and you do not have a dive trip planned anytime in the interim, then wait. If you would like to get started with your D70 earlier, then look to Nexus or some other source. There are many great housings. I purchased an Aquatica for my S2 and have liked it very much.

Waiting puts off the start of the really great fun, the phtoography.

    Just a thought,

    Mike

  3. The D100 and the D70 have a similar feature set. They also are similarly priced. The difference is that there are LOTS of housings for the D100 on the market right now...

  4. I've seen the L&M housing for the D100. A fine housing. Especially if you like the digital ROC and the electronic controls. But having seen them in action up close I will take my Subal D100 housing as better. I like the excellent ergonomics and reliability of it's all mechanical controls. You can virtually shoot it with one hand.
