ive just returned from a trip to vanuatu where i was using my inon d180 for the first time . with a sea&sea dx 3000.
i tried using auto with poor results . it mostly over exposed . the minimun i can set my cameras iso to 200 . i did try different settings on auto with mixed success.
i ended up using manual setting with good results i would like better.
my question is ....
what settings are people using . how successfull do u find the auto setting .

This could be a problem if you are using the camera in auto, point and shoot mode. In this mode the camera will continually change aperture to match the ambient light conditions. Cameras really must be in manual mode or at least aperture priority mode. When testing this strobe we fixed the camera aperture at f4.0 then shot a way. Most macro and potrait pics came out reasonably well exposed.
I use the 180 in auto mode (set at whatever F stop I'm using) most of the time with the 5060 set at ISO 100 and it generally works well. The only time I find problems is with close up macro where i find it over exposes and I then use the power settings and go to a half or quarter power.
