Canon 5d mk1 & ikelite - preview problem

4 posts
  1. Hi all,

I have bought a used Canon 5d mk1 system in an Ikelite housing. Just started testing the rig and I have a problem: Underwater the preview picture does not show on the screen after taking a shot. On land it works just fine. All the settings are fine.

The previous owner said this problem sometimes appeared when using the rig near the depth limit around 60m but now it seems to happen at all depths.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Best,

    Aleksi

  2. Sounds like you have a week spring on one of the push buttons. I would recommend that you send it back to ikelite for service and they will replace the springs and seals and o-rings.

  3. Hi Bill,

Thanks for the advice! Sounds very logical about weak springs.

Do Ikelite sell the springs to customers, can I maybe service them myself? I live in Sweden and don't really have time to ship the housing to US right now. I am a service technician for several brands of regulators, can it be much harder to work with a housing?

    Best,

    Aleksi
