  1. Canon A70 with Ikelite Substrobe 150

A friend has loaned me the use of a Ikelite Substrobe 150 to use with my Housed Canon A70 digital. The substrove has a slave mode and I'm hoping that I can set the A70 to manual mode which disables the pre-flash to trip the 150. Does this sound like it will work?

If it will work, should I leave the strobe a full power and make most of the adjustments on the camera, or adjust the power on the strobe?

Any other tips I should know about using a setup like this? What white balance setting should I use with this strobe? Normal flash WB maybe?

    Thanks,

  2. Hi,

If you can setup the A70 to fire a single flash only (no preflash) then you should be able to use the SS150. You might consider buying a fiber optic cable kit from one of the sponsors to connect the slave sensor on the strobe to the housing. That way, you can get the flash to fire even on bright dives.

One thing to consider is that at even the minimum power setting and the maximum f-stop on your camera, the flash may be too powerful. I suggest trying a diffuser.

    Cheers
