Sony NEX6 shutter speed and strobes

4 posts
  1. Hi,

I have been shooting with a Sony Nex6 in a Nauticam housing and with YS-D1 strobes for a few years now.

The camera onboard flash triggers the strobes via FO cable. When the onboard strobe is switched on the camera limits the shutter speed to 1/160.

Has any of the forum participants an idea about how to get faster shutter speed with the onboard flash switched on? Or is there a solution somewhere which allows for bypassing the onboard flash and still triggering the strobes?

    Cheers,

    Morten

  2. Pretty much the only way is to use a Nikonos adapter and the hotshoe. I tried to get a flash trigger built, but there is not enough space in the Nauticam housing.

  3. Thanks for the advise. Can you recommend a shop where I can purchase these items?

  4. Hi,

I saw this on the Internet: http://www.bluewaterphotostore.com/blog/photo/a6000-sync-cable-vs-fiber-optic/

I asked the publisher if this would also allows for faster shutter speeds than 1/160 when using the sync cords and hot shoe adaptor. So far no answer.

Can anybody advice if the shown setup will allow for faster shutter speeds than the max. 1/160 when the internal camera flash is on?

    Cheers,

    Morten
