  1. Inimicus-looking fish from Wainilu, Indonesia, and two other fish from Bali.

  2. First is Kyphosus sp. Chub. Not sure which one as I can find illustrations - not necessarily authentic - which show this mottled form for K. vaigiensis and K. cinerascens. Maybe they can both adopt this pattern?

  3. Kyphosus vaigiensis (lowfin drummer, also referred to as chub or rudderfish) can adopt this spotted pattern. An example is shown in Fish Identification Tropical Pacific (page 132).

The second one is a female Paracheilinus species (flasherwrasse). It looks very similar to P. nursalim but that one is only known from West Papua and Misool island, Bomberai peninsula and Triton bay in Indonesia. I don't think that includes Bali but there may be similar species in Bali or its range is broader than currently known.

The last one is an Inimicus species (Stinger or Devilfish), probably I. didactylus but their colours are very variable. If you have an image showing the inside of the pectoral fin you may get a more definitive ID.
