Titan D100 Bulkhead not compatible with Ike Cords

Howdy all,

I have been fighting a battle that I cannot seem to win. My Ikelite Nikonos style sync cords do not screw into the Titan D100 bulkheads without gorilla strength. To screw Ikes delrin threads into the Light & Motion bulkhead takes an act of king kong, and while doing so, you will inadvertantly twist the fragile end of the cord and misalign the engagement. The result? &^%@'ed up sync cords, ruined, caput, no-mas. I have been trying to get resolution and Ike and his team have helped me root cause it down to the Titan housing. But L&M seems pretty set that their design is correct and the problem is with Ike. Being that the cords fit my Nikonos V, Hydro 35, and my Subal housing perfectly, it is pretty clear that the poor fit is the result of a poor tolerance or worng pitch diameter on the Titan bulkhead threads.

I am wondering if any of you are using a Titan D100 with Ikelite Nikonos style cords and having similar issues. If so, what have you done to resolve the problem? I am to the point where I have asked L&M for the thread dimensions they cut to so I can purchase a thread die to re-thread the threads on my Ikelite sync cords. I ruined 3 EXPENSIVE TTL cords in one day trying to get one engaged into the housing bulkhead. Cannot afford to keep doing that.

Also, does anyone know who the owner of Light & Motion is so I can contact him/her?

I've been using the Titan D100 with Ike's delrin cords (Nikonos to Ikelite strobes) with no problems. Very odd.

I wonder if your bulkheads are different????

I would contact Dan Baldochi at LMI for advice.

This sounds very much like a repetition of the problem some people had with Sea & Sea housings and Ike's strobe cords. Sea & Sea had a batch of bulkheads that were just a little smaller than the nikonos specification. Sea & Sea denied the problem, AFAIK they still do, but later models magically went back to fitting
