Autofocus UW video with GH3 vs GH4 - focus breathing issues on GH4

  1. First off all, I have done lots of UV videos with my GH3 and autofocus enabled and gotten great results. Hardly any annoying focus issues at all. Only minor stuff easily cut out during editing.

Switching to a new GH4 introduced a real pain in the ass autofocus action with continious focus breathing - almost cycling in and out of focus every couple of seconds.

Could this be a settings issue? The GH3 was so fine. Now my latest GH4 shoots look like a disaster.

My main lens is the Panasonic 7-14 mm.

    Thanks for any advice.

  2. I love my GH4, but autofocus while shooting video is next to impossible. Take advantage of the wide depth of field of your 7-14. Prefocus on your fin and leave it on manual. Shoot at f8, and boost iso if necessary, up to 800 max.

  3. Disable continuous autofocus in the video menu and set to AF-single. Also set the focus area to centre to minimise issues
