Got my D70 with Kit Lens wet today!

  1. Got my D70 with Kit Lens wet today!

Thanks to the miracles of Ikelite and Ryan, I was able to get all the pieces together for my D70 before my cozumel trip next week.

I went out to the lake and shot a few shots.

These are with the kit lens and a +4 diopter. I tried the camera without the Diopter, but it wouldn't focus on anything without it.

I have to say, I am really really liking this setup, although it's going to take me a long time to get used to it.

  2. I like the 1st and the last shot with the rays. Nice captures what is your exif info on these?

  3. Nice Bass!

(hopefully some of you over 30 will get that one...:-)

    Cheers

    James

  4. I recognize that dive site. Now all you have to do is Photoshop it into nice blue water like I do.

  5. I used to do that. But I think I've decided that I prefer the green water in my lake shots.

Appears more natural, since that is what I actually see down there.

The Auto White Balance on the D70 actually tried to reproduce blue water on some of my shots, and I had to go back and force it green. :)

  6. d70 housing home minus 1 port

    hello jim-

i like your bass as well. :) my flat port did not arrive.. did you try the kit lens with the wide angle or dome port ike offers? has anyone? do you need the +4 diopter? trying to get everything ready for Cozy as well..

    thanks,

    M.

  7. I'm not sure which exact port I have. I just told them I needed the port for the kit lens, and that's what they sent me. :) The port I have is a dome, and not flat.

I feel the +4 diopter is completely necessary.

I tried the camera in the pool with nothing on the lens, and couldn't lock focus on really anything either wide or zoomed telephoto.

I then went out to the lake and put the +4 diopter on the lens before the dive. I had very little trouble locking focus. I didn't have time to try +1, +2, or +3, but I'm happy with the close focus ability of the +4, so that's what I plan on sticking with in Cozumel.

  8. Thanks Jim! I need to get the diopter. Looks like a bunch of us will have d70 in the water in the next month...cant wait to see everyone's pics.

  9. Great shots, I would swear that they were shot in one of our Arizona lakes.

What strobe are you using with your rig?

  10. I have 2 DS125's. But I've come to find out I didn't really have them setup right.... I'm going to go out again tomorrow and see what I can dish up.
