I have some doubt all this stuff will ever pick up to be frank as on my Tv set none of the 4K clips I am playing looks particularly amazing compared to a good bluray rip
Well, Ultra HD Blu-ray seems to feature HDR etc on several of the first releases. The Samsung player looks to hit the retail space first.
My view is 4K is not really that great and you need something else to make it appealing. The new colour scheme and HDR will make bluray look great and create a wow factor for 4K however those improvements could have been achieved already with HD. Also UHD premium is designed for displays not for receding devices as far as I know and no consumer camera at the moment can achieve the specifications
I presume all the current 4K TVs by Samsung / Sony / LG will be able to view this new premium stuff?
If so, I wonder if the demos you see running in the shops on these 65-80" TVs, that to me look stunning are actually already in this HDR format?
No only one part of the displays will be compliant so not all of the current range. Funny enough plasma tv support HDR better and it is quite hard for LED and LCD!!
