Nikon J4 and YS-D2

  1. Hello..
i've just purchased my 1st strobe and im newbie regarding stobes with many questions.. I'd appreciate any help ! so far i've been depending on ambient light

Atm im using nikon j4 with wp-n3 untill i purchases a housing for my d7100 ..

I set the camera to underwater flash with ttl.. but i dont know which mode to pick on the ys-d2 strobe
would the ds-ttl work properly ? or i've to stick to preflash manual if manual what setting i should use ?

Second i read that the j4 is limited to 1\60 sync speed.. but what does this mean in practical (what i can shoot and what i cant) i mostly gonna be shooting wideangle (freedivers- fish- reef)

  2. First off, housing the 7100 would be nice, but the J4 is an image powerhouse.

I've taken one diving in the Nikon housing and love shooing at 1/60 or 1/125 at F8. Run it manual with the strobe set at TTL.

I have the Nikon SN-N10 and am considering the S & S YS-D2. Why did you choose the S & S over the Nikon?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the replay.. i've chose ys-d2 becuase it was recently released and felt the nikon n10 was just exp rebranding of ys-d1..

How did u manage to shoot flash at 1\125 i cant dial it more than 1\60

could please explain more regarding how to set the flash.. do i set the flash in camera to manual and put the strobe to TTL ? i tried it and i got overexposed shots

  4. Ran it all in manual; with the strobe in TTL. Works great and it's fast too!
