highlights comparison S2/D70

hi guys,

just back from diving today

and still disapointed with the highlights of my S2

i v e made this week end a comparison between S2 and D70 shooting the Sun in the frame

It seems to be really much better with the nikon BUT i ve only tested it topside

So my question is , have you already made this kind of tests underwater ?

Is the D70 really better than the S2 for this kind of pictures ?

(sorry for my obsession with the highlights but I can't help myself shooting with the sun in the frame)

That is one of the big reasons I sold my S2 was its inability to capture and properly expose highlights. Maybe it was the lenses I used but I always got used to checking the histogram after every picture which made it better. With the D70 the metering is so much better than the S2 that I rarely have to take the picture again but have alswyas gotten used to checking the histogram anyways. Plus the d70 has the highlight view which will tell you right off where the highlights are blown. Besides the speed, this and the great capture software I have sold the S2 on ebay and I am quite happy about it.

Also if you are using non-nikon lenses this makes it more prone to blowing the highlights. The sigma lenses are bad about this in my usage.
