  1. Whaleshark

This is my favorite picture of a whaleshark and diver i shot in the Bay Islands. Any comment is welcome.

  2. Wonderful shot. Excellent framing and composition. A little more contrast would help and if you could have gotten the whale shark and the diver heading into the frame as opposed to having their backs turned and heading out of frame would make it perfect. Easier said than done...right

  3. Great shot, well framed, great blue. What camera/lens setup?

  4. cool shot, but..

I think it looks too Photoshopped. The blue doesn't look natural, at least on my monitor, and the transition with the shark looks abrubt. Can you post the original?

  5. I agree that it looks photoshopped because of the blue. Great idea though and i like the back and above shot because it gives great detail of the sharks stripes and patterns, also creates nice interaction with shark and diver.

  6. Great shot! Of a tough subject.

My main critique is on composition. First, as has been said above, I would prefer to see the shark and diver coming to the camera. And second it would be better if the diver was further from the camera than the shark - to emphasize its size! A minor point is that I would like to see the dorsal fin more clearly - standing out against the blue - since it is such a characteristic feature of sharks.

I agree with the photoshop comments above, but an non-photographer would never notice.

  7. hey any shot of a whale shot is a good shot. of course we all want to have better this that and the other but its a pretty cool shot

  8. I agree it is a cool shot, and I am jealous as hell because I have yet to be able to shoot a whale shark. I just think it could be 'shopped better. I'd like to see the original.

  9. Hey all and thanks for the comments.

I too would love to have them both from the front but it was impossible to overtake them. I fell in the water above and behind the shark and this was the first shot i could take.

I have edited a divers leg and some bubbles from the top left of the image. Apart from that there was some color correction (the shark looked too blue) and image sharpening.

I am away from my computer until monday so I can send in the original next week.

It was shot with the sigma 15-30 @30mm i think. the strobes went off, but i don't think they were set high enough to affect the picture.

    thanks again
