Octospot 4K divers camera

  1. Saw this on Facebook, apparently 200m limit, 4K and auto white balance that adjusts to your depth.

Will be interesting to see some real world footage.

  2. It is good that somebody is thinking of underwater specific action cam :)

In addition to good optics, I hope they get the auto-white-balance & the light sensitivity working correctly.

  3. The biggest problem is: you don't know where the camera is pointing at! Anyone dove with a goPro without the LCD screen would know, you would end up with video that has creature half out of the frame, forget about rule of third. With this limitation, it can hardly be use as a B camera.

  4. I like the idea, but this camera has a very wide field of view of 155 deg, even wider than a GoPro. I already find 114 deg (m4/3 lens at 7mm) more than wide enough. Divers will need to be very close to subjects or settle for sweeping panoramas. But then, I am mostly a macro shooter and don't really have a WA brain . . .
