Can I use lenses for an AE-1 Program on any of the Canon D-SLR's? There seem to be multiple lens types over Canon's history. I have several lenses for my film camera. I haven't used film for 3 years since going digital. It's time for me to upgrade to a better digital. This might be an advantage for me in choice of camera.
Thanks in advance
Yes and no. The AE-1 Program (I was surprised to find I have one sitting on a shelf behind me!) uses Canon's old "FD" mount, where as the D-SLRs all use the new "EF" mount. You can get a converter that allows you to mount FD lens on an EF/EOS body, but (of course) it will be manual focus only (since the FD lenses were manual focus only). The converter will probably cost you around $100. Check out what's on eBay (http://auctions.searchmarketing.com/fd-eos...-30059-1-s.html) or check any of the major photo stores like B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...ku=89910&is=REG).

And its time to upgrade to that "new" EOS EF lens system too!
Canon's lenses have all used the same system since the FD mount was dropped and the EF mount introduced in 1987. All EF lenses built since this time should work fine with a Canon DSLR.
Chris's answer above is entirely correct. However, if we're talking about shooting underwater you'd be mad to try and use FD-mount lenses.
Unless you have a rack full of L-series FD glass waiting around to be used, I wouldn't even bother above the water.

OK color me stupid, of course these lenses are manual focus. How soon we forget.
Conclusion : Time for the whole shooting match to be put up on ebay to help fund a new acquisition.
