  1. D70/Nexus Housing

:D I just got back from diving Wreck Alley in San Diego with a Nikon D70 in a just delivered Nexus housing. I used a 105 with two Ikelite D125 strobes. One was wired direct into the housing; the other fired via a remote monitor.

I liked the housing. It performed as well as my Nexus N90s housing, and was smaller and lighter. Still negative in the water, but not bad.

The view finder was a bit small, but I could compose images well. The f-stop dial was easy to use.

I shot some on manual focus and some on auto - I had more trouble doing critical focus with the D70 than I am used to with the N90s. The autofocus had to work a bit on some situations; but it always locked in.

My focusing light helped a lot.

I have the LCD set to +2; I will probably go higher on the next dives.

All in all, I am very pleased

I will put a few up on the web this weekend and you can see them next week. I'll give you the url then.

  2. Neal, I'm curious about setting the LCD to +2...why so bright?

I have mine set at -1.....that seems to be closer to what I actually get on the computer

Just curious.....I'm always on the lookout for something better :D

  3. Karl - just starting with the D70; my eyes are old enough (61+) that I need additional light; it may be too bright, as my actual computer images are dark, but they look very good on my LCD projector.

  4. Nice images Neal. Did I recognize Sharon in that diver photo?[/i]
