Novice Question: TTL using 2 x YS-D2 in a Nauticam A6300 Housing

  1. Novice Questions Seeking Advice;

    A have 2 x YS-DS Strobes from Sea&Sea with a Nauticam A6300 housing. Just bought it weeks ago and took it to Bali for macro shots (using Sony 90mm) but the results was not good. I use Manual flash all the way.

    Is it possible to use TTL setting for these strobes to get a better accurate exposure all the time and just set the Exposure and Shutter Speed to compensate?

    Any kind advice appreciated in advance!

  2. Hi,
    what are your settings strobe and camera?
    Wire or fibre cable connection?
    Regards,
    Wolfgang

  3. Hi Wolfgang

    Manual strobe - playing with all the dials to control flash output

    Camera - 100 iso, F8 mostly and Shuttle between just 80-160

    Firing through the fiber optics cable to the two YS-D2

    I have heard a lot about using dive light in place of strobe which avoided the recycle time of the A6300 flash. Is this the way going forward now?

  4. I use 2 Inon strobes (D2000, Z240) on a Nauticam Nex5. I only use TTL. I use optical fibre link.

    At times they will be to bright (close-up) or dull (wider angel/distance), I then adjust the aperture. I tend to keep a fixed shutter speed (as fast as I can) to stop any motion blur. I consider the aperture and hence depth of field, then shutter.

    I would consider a dive light for photos. It would need to provide a very even and wide spread of light, you will still have to adjust speed/aperture for the consistent light. The TTL allows the camera to have a high degree of control over the strobe.

  5. hi

    I use DS-TTL position with my 2 ys d2 ( use with optical fibre) , always with diffusers
