Pretty interesting. How well did the white balance work on the original, compared to the gopros? Does anyone make orange filters for them?
YI CEO told CNET that the 4Kp60 120Mbps camera would cost $299. Hopefully, the product will be out before the end of the skiing season.
However, image stabilization works only up to 4Kp30, so one will have to use either a gimbal or the NLE to stabilize the 4Kp60 videos.
I'm pretty certain I can use Backscatter Flip filters for the GoPro on a YI housing with a DIY 3D-printed spacer/adapter.
DJI 4Kp60 camera with an one-inch sensor should find its way to an Osmo setup in the near future, I hope someone will make an underwater housing for this exciting camera.
Yi Technology and Amazon are taking orders now and Yi says shipping will be within 8 weeks to the U.S. (Amazon says the release date is April 11, 2017). Many countries are not included for direct shipment by Yi (see the questions and answers at the bottom of this page) but since Amazon will also carry this it should not be a problem for many buyers.
The price is USD$339.98 which includes the waterproof case.
I'm especially interested in the Backscatter Flip filters. It looks like the lens on the 4K+ is centered from top to bottom (as opposed to the GoPros which are closer to the top) so even if the square lens port has the same dimensions it looks like one of the filters will be able to flip up but not back. The other filter looks like it will flip sideways and back. I would like to see A.Y.'s 3D solution.
Looking forward to some reviews.
The Sony Actioncam FDR-X1000V actually look good in term of color and image stabilization. Would be interesting to see the Sony vs Yi 4K+.
