Nikon D70 – Error with the Time

In my last dive trip to Red sea, I had a problem with my Nikon D70 Camera in my forth dive. Of course it was the most attractive dive to the Fiord in Sinai, when I was ready to jump into the water, the camera upper panel window (where you can set the aperture / f-speed was half empty), none of the flash settings and other details was there.

Because I had no time to open the Rig, I try to shutdown the camera and restart it did not help.

At this time I had to get into the water, When I got into the water, I restart the camera and only things I could see is small blinking icon in the panel say clock. looks like the camera was reset, the same way when you set first time the camera.

I tried to fix it underwater, but I couldn’t, for some reason the buttons in my back of Sea & Sea housing did not function when I try to set it under water.

I do not need to tell you how frustrate it was. I carry the rig all dive like it was a stone just waiting it to be finish, so I can open the housing and set the time on the camera.

Any idea why I couldn’t change / fix underwater from the housing? Only after the dive when I open it, and disconnect it from the housing, I could change the camera settings, to reset the clock, and then everything look as it was before.

I did one dive after to the Ras Hamira, and the housing / Camera worked perfect. I wonder if it ever happened to any one else? Any tip will be appreciated here?
