  1. New Fuji S3pro Info

Check out the news posted on www.dpreview.com. Apparently you can adjust the dynamic range by turning up and down the amount of S and R pixels. Fascinating! I need to learn more but I think this is a fabulous twist on the megapixel wars. "Which would you like today sir, Push 1 for more megapixels, or 2) for more dynamic range."

The way I read it, they're just postprocessing features, not that important if you shoot raw.

I look forward to seeing how well this scheme works. Their low end cameras using this type of sensors have been a disappointment. I suspect some of it is the configuration and some of it is testing methods.

  4. James,

Almost hidden amidst the hoopla about the user adjustable dynamic range of the S3 is an ambiguity concerning TTL with the S3.

In big letters Fuji announces that the S3 uses D-TTL, but further down among the many features in detail is this:

"D-TTL Flash Exposure Metering System: photographers can take advantage of a host of creative options, and achieve outstanding results with all Nikon-compatible Speedlights."

Exactly what does Fuji mean by the phrase "all Nikon-compatible Speedlights"? Have they simply erred and should have said all D-TTL compatible speedlights, or will this camera work with both D-TTL and the older regular TTL, which would mean that it would also work TTL with current underwater TTL strobes.

Perhaps someone with connections at Fuji can get a clarification on this since Fuji seems ready to give more detailed information.

    divegypsy :?:

  5. It means it will work with D-TTL compatible speedlites only:

    SB50DX

    SB28DX

    SB80DX

    SB600

    SB800

    Cheers
