These are my first u/w pics. I had great success thanks to the gang at Wetpixel. I also took a u/w photo cert class and read Jim Church's "Essential Guide to Composition".

    Setup:

    CP5000

    Ike housing

    Ike DS125 TTL mode

    19mm Lens

I basically only varied f-stop, strobe output, and macro mode.

Almost all shots were with auto:

    Focus

    White balance

    Shutter speed

  2. Great Shots!

  3. Nice job! Were those with the 19 mm or with the cameras native lens?

  4. They were with the 19mm lens. I didn't even bother to pack the standard port after reading posts from others who have used the 19mm lens. I needed to keep it simple on my first trip. I see no need to use anything but that lens.

  5. Great shots!

Were the macro shots taken with the 19mm also? (in macro mode)?

  6. Krash,

your pictures are great but i find that "PROOF" written right across them a bit disturbing.

Couldn't you get rid of it and simply place a copyright in one of the corners ?

  7. I use printroom.com for my prints. They offer a "pro" account where you upload your images and others can have them printed at prices you specify. They take about 13% plus the price of the prints you get a check for the rest. I thought it would be fun to try to sell the prints online. The setup is $100. I thought I could maybe offset some gear expenses (hasn't happened yet!)

Anyway, to make a long story short, they generate the thumbnails for you with the "PROOF" so people can't copy the image and print their own.

  8. I am very impressed that you can get that close (the shrimp, close ups of coral, etc.) with the 19mm lens. Did you have to zoom in macro mode using that lens for the close shops? Or, di did you crop? I am trying to decide if I should house my CP5000 or wait and house my soon to come D100. After seeing the range of the CP5000 w/ 19mm lens, I am really leaning towards the Aquatica A5000 as they offer a dome port for the Nikon 19mm lens (I am an Aquatica fan!).

  9. Krash,

Also, are you happy with the CP5000? Your photos are great ... just wondering if there is antying about the CP5000 underwater that you dislike? I tested an Olympus 4040 camera u/w and was bothered by that shutter lag ... lots of guessing on tiiming cerain critters. Know what I mean?

  10. I couldn't be more pleased. I shot all pics with the 19mm lens. I used minimal cropping as I wanted to be able to make 8 x 10 prints.
