  1. Split Shots

Now that I am diving deeper into the whole DSLR world with my D70, I was interested in getting some opinions on what would be the ideal lens for split shots.

Is a lens like the 12-24 the way to go or is the 10.5 fisheye a better choice? What are the benefits / drawbacks of using either of these lenses for these types of shots? Would the 14mm 2.8 be a better choice over the 12-24? Or heck.. Should I just stick to my Olympus 5050 with the Inon?

    I appreciate the help.

  2. Well, I suggest the 10.5mm. Split shots should have DOF ranging from very close (water line) to infinity. The 10.5mm simply offers this better than the other lenses. Also close focusing should be just perfect with this lens.

that said, I have never tried something different than a fisheye lens for splits :-)

Others may prefer a rectilinear wideangle avoiding the fisheye look.

Oh - and get the biggest dome you can get

it helps to get the waterline within focus.

  3. Fisheye. Pretty much all I used it for in the past. Find nice flat water with shallow u/w scene.
