  1. Canon 100mm USM macro with Ike port 5508.45

Just received this port and lens. The lens seems like a very tight fit in the port (it has to be somewhat tight for the manual focus to work). I'm a bit concerned that the resistance of the lens in the port will cause the port to fail to seal properly. Any words of advice or reassurance from the few of you who have this setup already? No instructions specific to this port come with it and Ikelite is close for the weekend, so I'm just hoping someone will tell me I'm not doing something stupid -- or if I am, keep me from doing it when I get in the water. Thanks.

As Ike recently pointed out to me, the O-ring seal is side to side. therefore, if I understand this correctly, if the port did slide out slightly you wouldn't lose the seal. POrt latches will obviously stop the port from coming out altogether.

I'm looking at getting the same port and lens you have, so if anyone does have any info on this particular setup I'd be interested in hearing it too.

  3. Rob,

Just got back from my trip and noticed that you'd responded to my question. Thanks. As you surmised, the tight fit was not a problem -- no floods.

The lens-port combo was great and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I'm new to this whole SLR thing, but that lens seems like a masterpiece of engineering.
