  1. I've read a bit about this lens and even at 12mm this is supposed to be very sharp with no aberration around edges. Been waiting a long time for a native wide angle from Sony. This would be a killer wide angle for film No?087b0f2b345cdb367297c825e2d68d06.jpg

  2. Cant agree more if one is shooting full frame video. Youd need 9 dome to support such wide lens. The challenge with such setup for video is ergonomics but again this is subjective.

By the way, this is not a G Master it is a G series Sony lens.

    Here is the latest review:

  3. My guess is that you're going to get quite significant distortion at 12mm even with a 9" dome (and soft corners). As far as I know, the Nikon 14-24 and the Canon 11-24 don't do particularly well at the extreme wide ends.

I also feel like the 16-35mm lenses are a better choice overall for the focal length versatility. 16mm already feels a little bit too wide for any video where the camera isn't static, imo.

  4. You can go with the Seacam minidome allways over F 10 or 12....

Actually I did this sample video from last month, all shot at 12mm as the zoom ring wasnt allready avalable.

  5. Thanks TaxiDriver. The distortion is pretty bad for video with any vertical movement of the camera. Good to know.

Very beautiful but i see what you mean about the vertical movement. I'm considering the GH5 with IBIS looking at the Olympus Pro 2.8 7mm-14mm (14mm-28mm equivalent). Does your camera have any OIS or IBIS?

A7RII has IBIS. This test tells me to shoot over F12 to get usable footage. For me is better than a superdome of 4kg, same weight of my setup...

Of course it will be better w superdome, but how many dives you wont be able to shoot anything ??? ( I saw that allready ).

How many unusable footage you will have bacause your dome is moving w the current ??? ( I saw it allready ).

I will try more and you will be able to see the results... unless some one is taking the risk.

  9. Well.. I'd say based on your footage TaxiDiver that (a) the edge distortion is pretty damn bad for video; (b) the edge sharpness is quite bad (could be the small dome) and © the stabilization is very jerky. Not really sure why you'd want to shoot this lens over the 16-35.
