I am new to the site and new to UW Digital Photography, I recently purchased the Ikelite setup for my D100. I also purchased the 5503.55 Port for my 17-35mm AF-S lens. Before ordering, I spoke with Ikelite and told them it was unclear on their site if this is the correct Port for the AF-S lens. I was told that if I did not hear back (which I didn't) that it would work. I was also told that I would need the 5509.17 Zoom Sleeve. The Sleeve is on back order, but when I checked the Lens to the port, it appears REAL tight and I am afraid I have the wrong Port - is there anyone using the 17-15mm AF-S lens with the Ikelite housing that could advise?
I have a 17-35 and an Ikelite housing for my D70.
I also ordered the 5503.55 port.
The port came with the regular Zoom Sleeve. Not sure of the number.
And it also came with a regular set of clamps.. The clamps would not fit in the Zoom Sleeve at all. Called Ikelite was sent a special set of clamps that fit the sleeve. Had to remove the Nikon rubber focusing ring to get the lens in the sleeve.. Then the sleeve was too tall for the housing.. Again called Ikelite and was sent the right sleeve. The new sleeve is ½ the height as the sleeve that came with the port.
All in all it seems to work on land.. Will have to wait till December to try it out in Kona.
Ikelite was very responsive to my plight. Real good customer service.
