Geez, spent the better part of two days wondering what happened to Bob, 'til I finally found the post (it's in 'Crazy Dive Stories' if you're wondering too).
Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery Bob.
Richard
Thanks guys! I have survived the surgery, although it was on the bad end of the scale.
Basically a 3.5" cut from my first knuckle to the middle of my palm and a small cut on my pinky knuckle. I am in the process of writing an article for Alert Diver, assuming they are interested in the "worst case" scenario of urchins.
I have some nerve problems, but the doc thinks that will eventually pass, and it looks like a few months of intensive PT to get mobility back (hopefully 100%).
I should know more in a few weeks, and I do have a quite gruesome pic taken three days after the surgery (always the photog !!) which I may share with you in the near future assuming you want to see it ![]()
Thanks again for the thoughts! I shall return.....a bit wiser I hope ![]()
ps. typing with one hand is still pretty difficult, so I will be phasing into my BB responses ![]()
Bob,
Glad to hear you're on the mend. I just came back from a trip to the Galapagos and dove conditions that were probably similar to ones you found at Coco except it's colder. The temp dipped belowed 60 at parts of the southern end, and it ranged between 70 - 78 in the north at Darwin. We had significant current on most of the dives. I can see how easy it would be to bump into something sharp and venomous.
This trip also gave me a new appreciation on the difficulty of shooting fast moving sharks in the current.
Herb
Thanks Herb!
Galapagos is so cool, I will never forget that trip, nor the Coco's.
I never really though about capturing moving sharks until I switched to digital......I agree it is hard, much harder.
Now that I switched my land camera from a D30 to a 1d, I am seriously thinking about adding a d60 at some point for underwater use. Especially now that a few housing options are coming out.
Cheers !
