Ikelite Filter

5 posts
  1. I just got my ikelite housing for my cp5000. It came with a color correcting filter. It fits over the standard port but not over the dome port for the 19mm lens.

Does anyone use this filter? Is it worthwhile?

  2. Such filters are for avalible light photos in shallow water. Being digital it is easy to experiment with. As noted in a previous thread one of Ike's vide filters will fit over the wide angle dome port.

Personally I won't take the camera and housing down without the wide angle dome port. Well, maybe for pigmy seahorses.

  3. If you're interested in an INON macro lens for your CP5000, drop me a line. It is pretty much a 1.5x diopter that will take your 85mm lens to around 120mm macro.

  4. I photographed a few (film) at Komodo. They are very small. Less than your fingernail. I think the native lens on the 5000 might do them well. You will need a good focus light on a manuverable arm (such as a TLC or Ultralight) long enough to really manuver close to your subject and out of the way of your camera. That macro lens might not be a bad back up. Some of the ones we saw were at 130 ft so repress your urge to edit your images UW. Sorry if you allready know this.

  5. Ike buys their filters from UR/PRO as far as I can tell. I have a trip coming up in November to Saba - u/w volcanic formations. I expect to take many scenic photos and I am going to make a filter adaptor for the w/a port. Per Ike, they do not have a filter for the w/a port but they offer one that you can make an adpator for. I will deal direct with UR/pro to get an appropriate filter.

I can make several adaptors if there is any interest. I was thinking of PVC with an O-ring for friction. I imaging the O.D. of the port has a loose tolerance.
